Creating Pulse Survey Templates
Creating a Pulse Survey Template allows you to collect feedback from employees through quick, structured surveys. These templates define the questions, format, and scoring used to gather insights across your organization.
This article applies to HR Admins responsible for creating and managing pulse survey templates.

Create a New Template
- Click Pulse from the left navigation menu.
- Select Templates.
- Click Create Pulse Template.
- Configure the template fields.
Template Fields
Template Name
- Internal name visible only to HR users
- Use clear naming if creating multiple templates
Description
- Optional internal description
- Visible only to HR users when editing the template
Section
Pulse surveys contain only one section for all questions.
- Configure the section settings.
Section Fields
Section Title
- Visible to employees during the survey
Section Description
- Optional instructions displayed during the survey
- Click + Question to begin adding questions.
Questions
Questions collect responses from employees participating in the survey.
Add a Question
- Click + Question within the section.
- Configure the question settings.
Question Fields
Question Title
- The prompt participants will answer
Question Description
- Optional instructions or additional context
Question Type
Choose one:
Multiple Choice
- Select from predefined answers
- Allows a single selection
Text
- Open-ended response
Does not support scoring
Label (Answer Options)
- Required for Multiple Choice questions
Example:
- Always
- Sometimes
- Never
Points
- Assign point values to each answer
Example:
- Always → 10
- Sometimes → 5
- Never → 0
Question Controls
Use the icons to:
- Copy a question
- Move a question up or down
- Delete a question
Summary
The Template Summary provides a real-time overview of your pulse survey structure.
Section and Question Overview
- Displays all questions in the template
- Click any question to jump directly to it for editing
- Updates automatically when reordered
Total Score Breakdown
- Displays total possible points when scoring is used
Save Template
- Click Save Template to save your progress.
Save & Preview
- Click Save & Preview to view the survey as participants will see it.
Preview, Edit, and Archive Templates
All templates are managed from the Pulse → Templates page.
Edit
- Click Edit to update questions or settings
Preview
- Click Preview to view the survey layout
Duplicate
- Click Duplicate to create a copy of an existing template
Archive
- Click Archive to remove a template from active use
- Archived templates can be restored if needed
Important Notes and Limitations
- Pulse surveys support only one section per template
- Pulse survey responses are anonymous
- Results are only visible once at least 6 responses have been submitted
- Only HR Admins can view survey results
- Scoring is recommended for multiple choice questions to generate graph-based reporting
- Text-type questions do not support scoring
