Peer evaluations allow organizations to collect feedback from employees who work closely with one another. This provides additional insight into employee performance based on day-to-day interactions.
This article applies to HR Admins and Managers using peer feedback within evaluations.

Use Cases
Peer evaluations are used to gather feedback from coworkers who regularly interact with the employee.
Common use cases include:
- Collecting feedback from team members who work closely with the employee
- Gaining additional insight into employee performance beyond manager observations
- Gathering input from multiple stakeholders
Peer evaluations can also be used to collect feedback from more than one manager by assigning additional managers as peers.

Configuring Evaluations to Allow Peer Responses
Peer feedback is configured at the evaluation template level.
Enable Peer Responses in a Template
- Navigate to Evaluations → Templates.

Click Edit on an existing template or select Create New Template.
- Add or edit a section.
- Under Who should complete this section of the evaluation?, select Peers only.
- Click Save Template.
Assign Peers to an Evaluation
After evaluations are scheduled, peers must be assigned to each employee’s evaluation.
- Navigate to Evaluations.
- Locate the employee’s evaluation.
- Click Feedback Requests.
- Select Peer under participant type.
- Choose the employee(s) to assign as peers.
- Click Submit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can peers see the employee or manager responses on the evaluation?
- No. Peers can only view and respond to the questions assigned to them.
- Once a peer submits feedback, they no longer have access to the evaluation.
What if an upper manager is assigned as a peer?
- Upper managers can still access evaluation results for employees in their reporting structure.
- They can view evaluations by navigating to Evaluations.
Can peers be required to sign the evaluation?
- Yes. Peers can be added as signers after the evaluation is created.
- This must be done manually for each evaluation or bulk assigned with our Bulk Assignment Tools.
Can peer responses be hidden from employees?
- Yes. To hide peer responses:
- Place peer questions in a dedicated section.
- Toggle Include Section in Finalized Evaluation to off.
Can peer responses be anonymous?
- Yes. To make peer responses anonymous:
- In the evaluation template, locate the setting Display Names of Responding Peers.
- Toggle this setting off.
- Peer responses will display as:
- Peer 1 said: ...
- Peer 2 said: ...
Important Notes and Limitations
- Peer evaluations are only available with a Professional License.
- Peers cannot view employee or manager responses.
- Once peer feedback is submitted, it cannot be revisited by the peer.
- Evaluations do not automatically assign peers; they must be added manually.
- To hide peer responses from employees, the entire section must be excluded from the finalized evaluation.
- Peer evaluation functionality is a Professional License feature. If you do not have a professional license and would like to activate the peer feature, please contact sales@expressevaluations.com.
